This episode of the ‘How to’-series is focused on the FreeD protocol in connection with the Panasonic 4K PTZ cameras AW-UE100 and AW-UE150. Dean Offord will explain what the FreeD protocol is, how it works with the PTZ cameras and how easily it can be activated.

The FreeD protocol is seen as an industry standard to ensure camera compatibility with most 3D engines from the likes of – but not exclusive to – Brainstorm, Zero Density, Vizrt, and Pixotope.

The protocol helps provide position data notification (PTZFI) in combination with a synchronization input and Panasonic has been the first manufacturer to offer ways of integrating high-quality compact PTZ into virtual sets.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT CAMERA CROPPING IN PTZ CAMERAS USING A SWITCHER

This episode showcases a new function of the AV-UHS500 4K compact switcher known as the ‘ROI Function’. ROI – or Region of Interest – allows operators to extract the parts you need from the image output from a camera and assign them to cross points. Operators can extract up to four individual crops from one camera and produce the same images that might be possible with multiple cameras.

One of the key features of the AV-UHS500 is the capability to expand on its standard I/O. In this case, by installing two additional AV-UHS5M1 option boards for additional SDI inputs or AV-UHS5M3 for addition HDMI inputs, it is possible for operators to extract a total of 12 images from three cameras simultaneously.

HOW TO CONNECT PANASONIC PTZ CAMERAS TO PRESS-IT

Watch Dean Offord as he explains how to use PTZ cameras with the PressIT wireless presentation system. PressIT is a ‘plug-and-play’ presentation tool for solution for remote and multi-location working. While using PressIT, there is no need for cables, wires or any software installations and users can ‘just’ show up and present effectively. It can connect up to 32 devices and display on up to 4 screens to make instant collaboration easier than ever before. To set up the ePTZ 4K AW-UE4 camera with PressIT, you only require the camera and the PressIT alongside a laptop and a screen. This causes minimum set up time and makes it easy to handle for everyone. When you connect the PressIT to the camera via the HDMI port, you can share wireless HD or 4K video up to 60p on your presentation device, may it be a monitor, screen or projector.

How to use the UHD crop function on Panasonic PTZ cameras

Dean Offord shows how to implement the UHD crop function on the Panasonic 4K PTZ cameras AW-UE100 and AW-UE150 in this episode of the “How To…” series of Panasonic Broadcast & ProAV. One of the key features of large single sensor camera technology is the ability to crop into an HD image during a live production environment or post production. This cropping function is unique to Panasonic 4K PTZ cameras. An operator can make use of the 3G-SDI output via the AW-RP150 remote controller to create up to three different HD cropping points as preset. The 4K wide angle image can also be captured simultaneously via 12G or HDMI output. In addition, NDI cropping is also available. On the UE100, the HD crop can be output via full-bandwidth NDI and on the UE150 via NDI|HX.
